دکتر آرتور نیلسن(MD) دانشیار روانپزشکی بالینی و علوم رفتاری دانشکده پزشکی فنبرگ دانشگاه نورث وسترن، هیت علمی‌انستیتو روانکاوی شیکاگو، انستیتوی خانوادۀ دانشگاه نورث‌وسترین و مرکز سلامت خانوادۀ دانشگاه شیکاگو است. او فارغ‌التحصیل دانشکده پزشکی دانشگاه جانز‌هاپکینز است.
وی عضو انجمن روانپزشکی آمریکا، آکادمی‌خانواده درمانی آمریکا، انجمن روانکاوی آمریکا و چین و انجمن روانکاوی آمریکا است. او عضو هیئت تحریریه مجلات Family Process, Journal of Marital and Family Therapy است.
تخصص دکتر نیلسن روان‌درمانی تحلیلی با زوجین و خانواده‌هاست. وی به ارائۀ دروسی چون زوج درمانی تحلیلی ، پژوهش در روانکاوی، آسیب‌شناسی از منظر روانکاوی و روابط ابژه مشغول است و استاد ناظر کار بالینی بسیاری از کاندیداهای روان‌درمانی تحلیلی است.
