هدف از برگزاری این دوره، آشنایی با بخش‌هایی از فرآیند درمان تحلیلی است که طی کار بالینی با بیماران اتفاق می‌افتد. مفاهیم به گونه‌ای انتخاب شده‌اند که اتفاقات مهم و چالش برانگیز اتاق درمان را به موازات برخی تحولات نظری از فروید تا امروز پوشش دهند.

از دانشجویان انتظار می‌رود پیش از حضور در کلاس، مقالات معرفی شده را مطالعه کرده و آمادۀ بحث و مشارکت فعال باشند.
